Metropolitan Theater
The Manila Metropolitan Theater — the Met — is an art deco landmark on Padre Burgos Avenue, opened in 1931 to a design by Juan M. Arellano and decorated by leading Filipino artists of the period. It was heavily damaged in the Second World War and spent decades in disrepair before a major restoration returned it to use. It is a National Cultural Treasure and now stages theatre, concerts and cultural programmes, with the building itself a substantial part of the reason to attend.
